Want some instant good karma? Olive and Sweet Pea are two Chihuahuas looking for a place to retire. These two sweet little puppies spent 8 and 12 years respectively as breeder dogs in a Missouri puppy mill . They each spent those years in a kennel giving birth to litter after litter. Fortunately, a rescue operation brought them to Salt Lake City about two years ago, and they've been enjoying a life of leisure ever since.
These girls definitely bear the mark of their previous neglect. They aren't much for being petted or held, but they make up for it in sheer happiness. Give them a comfy bed and a place in the sun, and they'll love you forever by wagging their tails a mile a minute and doing a little tap dance. They might be old, but you wouldn't know it from the way they dance around. With some training and love, they're sure to make some strides too.
They've done quite well using a doggy door, although their house training has a tendency to back slide during periods of rain. They love their crate and like to share one together. They curl up in a little yin yang that will make your heart skip a beat.
They do okay on leash. At 14, Olive isn't quite sure about walks. She prefers to cuddle up in a comfy spot and let the world come to her. Sweet Pea is a bit more adventurous and wouldn't mind getting out there on some short jaunts. Both of them are quite good with other dogs, although they prefer older, more mellow companions. Let's face it... they've done enough of the puppy thing.
Yes, these two little girls are unique, and they'll never be "normal" dogs. But they would be oh so grateful to find their forever home.
