The person hired for the position of Specialist, Data Scientist will work on a high:performing team of data scientists and machine learning engineers to develop software systems utilizing novel algorithms capable of extracting knowledge from large and diverse datasets. Candidates must be able to work on, and eventually lead, multidisciplinary teams containing both technical and non:technical personnel. The algorithms will leverage a Spark/Hadoop Big Data infrastructure that containing both structured and unstructured data. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing algorithms, presenting results, writing intellectual property along with attending and presenting at conferences and to 3M HIS customers.
Job Summary
: Applied research scientist position,
: Responsible for R and D in Machine Learning (ML),
: Advanced Statistics.
: Research and develop clinical data models to enhance 3M's clinical data analytics platform
: Ensure 3M HIS's data analytics capabilities are current with the state:of:the:art.
: Represent 3M HIS in the broader machine learning community, to partners, and to clients
Basic Qualifications:
: Masters degree or higher from an accredited university
: Minimum of five (5) year experience with algorithm development.
: Minimum of five (5) year combined experience with Software engineering in machine learning, statistics, and / or numeric methods
: Record of Thesis Publication
Preferred Qualifications:
: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math in Machine Learning, or expectation of Ph.D. completion within 1 year
: Medical field experience, ideally including experience with the output of NLP systems such as cTAKES
: Strong verbal and written communication skills
: C++ or C development experience
: Strong planning and time management skills
: Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
: Highly self:directed and able to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent and competing or conflicting challenges and issues
: Demonstrated team player with results:oriented track record
: Experience with distributed analytics software such as Hadoop
